Hi All,

Firstly, let me say that if this posting contravenes forum rules, is considered spam or would be better posted in a different location, then I humbly apologise.

Now to business …

My wife, 2 children & I left the UK last year to live the dream life in the Austria Tirol. We get to ski all winter and enjoy the beautiful Alpine scenery all year round … Yeah, yeah, yeah I hear you say – So what?

Well the thing is that having tootled around the mountain on my bike I haven’t seen anyone here who’s in anyway serious about Mountain Biking.

The mountain is serviced by a gondola which runs from 09:00 – 17:00 everyday and once at the top there are literally 100’s sq miles of mountain to ride. I’ve ridden some of the gravel roads around the place and dived down some (to me) insane tracks but I’ve never seen anyone else doing more than sightseeing [or peddling between mountain bars wink] …

Now I’m the 1st to admit that I’m really a total newbie at “organised” Mountain Biking but I think our village could be a really great place to create some new rides. The trouble is that I have nothing to compare our mountain against – Well except we went to Whistler, BC on hols last year and saw a round of the World Downhill Championships which happened to be on a the same time, but I never rode there.

So what I’m looking for is about a half dozen people who would be prepared to come out to Austria and help me decide if there is any future in our mountain and whether I should start to invest my time and money making trails etc.

My motivation for this is two-fold.

1.  We own and run an apartment house and I’m always looking at ways to attract new guests and
2.  How cool would it be to be the one to find and develop a totally new mountain?

Now I appreciate that this is a big ask and so in return I am prepared to provide free collection & returns to and from a local airport, provide accommodation for free for 7 nights and provide whatever help I can with guiding around the mountain … Volunteers would need to cover flights, food and drink whilst in resort and lift passes.

So what do you all think?

I’d appreciate any help possible with this and look forward to hearing from you all.

Cheers

Des
