Talking of arms. No pins or plates for me! This is good news, however, I still have to wear a pot for 5 weeks. This means the Pendal Pedal is out, it always was I suppose but am now aiming to return to the sporting fray at an event in The East Midlands at the end of August. Prior to that I hope that I will be back tentatively on the road bike within the month. Until then the turbo in the cellar is calling, which although not perfect will hopefully keep the fitness level from dropping too far!

So if you guys get sick of riding the open road, with the wind in your helmeted hair and the sun(sometimes read rain) on your backs then you are more than welcome to ride side by side in the 25 watt world of the `underground`. Vitamin D - I say `overated`.

Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish i could indulge myself in Turbo Training but alas work commentments have to come first (but happily returning to normailty by the end of this week). I went out for the 1st time in 3 weeks on Sunday afternoon...god it felt sooooooo good. Hope your return is swift Cacophony and sweet!

I noticed that the 1st british ride in the Etape came in 7th!!!! How did our guys do?

With the weather as it has been, I think Turbo training looks an attractive option. I want to hear Gizzajob’s and Harry Quinn’s stories of the Etape, get an account of El Cid’s aquaride in the 3 Counties, hear of the hundreds of miles travelled by Cacophony in his cellar, make plans for the Autumn which I’m expecting to be everything the summer hasn’t been so far. The forum seems rather quiet. How about the Bar’tat on Friday, 8pm? Would people be up for that?

Great. Now I know I’m not going to be sitting there on my own, let’s make it a firm date. Cacophony, will you be able to tear yourself away from the Turbo? We’re missing the banter!

Or bring the turbo with you? I’m sure we can find some room for it and we’ll bring you a pint every 30 minutes for rehydration?

I’ll be there.

The Mavic assistance guy is about to attack Gizzajob’s Focus with a very large wrench. His face lit up when he realised it was going to be something other than gear indexing adjustment!

Found this whilst browsing through some Etape photos on the web.
I passed this guy at Campan just before the Tourmalet starts. He has some garlic bulbs in a string bag hanging from his saddle.
He is Justin Sykes and he finished in a time of 09h34’30”
Suspect he is British - check out the socks and SPD sandals…

Nice one Justin ‘earthdreamer senior’ Sykes, that’s the way to ride these events, we’re beginning to need a bit more of a challenge.

I’ll see you all on Friday dependant upon getting a baby-sitter.

I can feel an Earlybird challenge coming on! Pick an event, buy a crap bike, baggy jumper, maybe some sort of handicap allowance for severity of crap bike etc. To be discussed in more detail after 6 pints. Talking of which, hope to see you tomorrow in Bar t’at, will have a consultation with my diary secretary later this evening.
