Have considered the logistics for this event. To go Saturday and stay B & B is possible, but would still have to get up early and sort breakfast out as the start times for the Mega are between 7 & 8am. Altenatively , they have set up a campsite at the HQ - to be honest, I don’t fancy that. So my suggestion is to get up early and do it in a day, leaving Ilkley at 4am and eating breakfast on the go in the van.

Please confirm if you would like to come along for a lift and we can sort out pick ups / meeting places.

I agree, an early start from a dry bed in to a van with a bit of banter will more than make up for a damp start in a cold welsh field prior to 140 miles of hell! Count me in!!!

In my usual way I’ve not been giving any thought to this at all. If you can find a place for me to go down on the morning with you, that would be fantastic. I squeeze up pretty small!

Fantastic organisation, 3.57am it is then

(btw are you going to need to share the driving a bit, I imagine my insurance would cover me 3rd party for another vehicle, I can check if you like)

It feels great to be part of such a well-oiled machine! Can’t help with the driving on the way back so I’ll just endeavour to be chirpy!!

Very quick report. I got around in 9.34, a couple of minutes behind Chills and Spectre. Knacker missed Gold (10 hours) by 16 seconds, which would have been gained comfortably had he not ridden straight past the Bala feed station and had to double-back. El Cid would also have got Gold comfortably had he not ridden straight through Ruthin at the end to do an extra 4 miles (possibly wanting to get in the full advertised 140 miles as opposed to the 135 miles that I clocked. Personally, I thought it was quite far enough). Enjoyed all kinds of weather and a fantastic if little contrived route. Thanks El Cid for the great logistics.
