A long ride in preperation for the WR long race. Good cool weather. Follow the link and spot the detour!

Thanks for the analysis Mr Giant Leap! A great advert for Garmin.

Great ride this morning, myself Mr GL and Richard M doing the full 75 mile loop. “My Legs Hurt” joining us up Greenhow and then peeled off via Skyreholme.

Back in Ilkley for 1pm.

Good steady ride, and a great confidence booster for White Rose as we climbed many of the same hills and climbed 8,000 ft. Even finished with Langbar at the end and we had an extra climb out of Stainforth just for the fun of it.

Especially good effort by Richard - first time over this sort of distance and still looked strong at the end.

Looks like a very tough route. Was the detour missing the turn for Malham whilst descending from Penyghent? And then an extra climb back up?

Prize to the man from the Etap - Detour was missing the turn to Malham and having to fight back up the hill. Sorry Richard.

It was a good ride plenty of climbing and great views. Roll on the White Rose

I see from Giant Leap’s Garmin analysis that the maximum speed whilst ascending was 30mph. Impressive stuff.

Studying the route map in detail has revealed an attempt to go up the south-side of Littondale. Looks like you realised the error much sooner and retraced the 50 metres…

Harry, we initially followed the sign for Arncliffe but then your route setting dictate came back to us and we hurriedly u-turned. The Garmin never lies.

It was interesting (and I guess not unexpected) that GL’s Garmin reflects closely your G-Map predictions on route length and elevation.
