The first of the Otley CC Time Trials start this week - (Provisional List).

I’m hopefully going to be able to make it and so is roentgen, any other takers? I’ve attached a picture which shows the start place for the 10 mile course, it starts on the main road but registration is just along the lane a bit (turn right off the main road and look for a lay-by on the rhs beyond where the railway line crosses).

No excuses now (unless it’s a bit windy and wet!), get those aero bars attached…

I fancy a go. Might be there Thursday, but have awkward week. If I’m not there I will do the next one. Will be riding au naturelle though as don’t have aero bars.

That was slightly alarming, for a moment there I thought au naturelle meant wearing only your birthday suit. Wondered whether this was some kind of canny roadie trick to cut down on wind resistance, saves buying a skin suit!

I would think you have been rejected by the committee. Its a pity, but you can’t blame them really. They have got a job to do.

Seriously, do you have to be a member to ride the Local Otley Time Trial?

If you go on their website , there are contacts there, who I am sure will answer all that stuff, I’ve only just joined so I’m not sure about the exact rules and regulations.

I don’t know for sure but I thought that any non championship events can be entered without being a club member, when I’ve gone down in the past there has been a fee for members and non-members.

I’ve sent an e-mail to the club’s contact address, I’ll let you know if I get a reply before Thursday.

Just had a reply from Otley CC....

Hi,
your email has been forwarded to me. I organise the
club time trials on Thursday evening. We start this
Thursday at 7pm with a 10 mile event.
You don’t have to be a club member to ride but you do
have to be a member of a cycling club which is
affliated to the CTT. So as soon as you join a club
you would be most welcome. You can download a club
membership form from the club website, once you have
put that in, I think it is fair to say that your
membership will be accepted and you can race.
Hope this helps and maybe we will see you down at the
events. If you brought your membership form and
payment down on Thursday I think that would be OK too.
Regards Sheldon

So there you have it, looks like they are pretty relaxed, but something I didn’t realise was the fact that you have to at least be a member of a club affiliated to the CTT.

Thanks Chills, I think there were some faster times done by riders from other clubs, but they don’t seem to count for the Otley CC thing.
As soon as your legs have had a rest after the Spanish training camp, you will have the beating of me easily.
