The profile for today and the photo of the day - Grassington as seen from the road round the side of Elbolton just before the descent to Thorpe.

I made it 52 miles by the time I got home, and Memory Map says 5157 feet (1572m) of ascent.

Nice snap HQ.

Ride report from El Cids viewpoint - 6 riders most of time, Gizzajob - back on form - turned short down Skyreholme, later we met up with Roentgen who had been to Buckden.

Beautifull, if cold weather. Back lane climb out of Pateley Bridge stunning - you all looked good from my vantage point (last up steep bit)

Very dodgy for 3 or 4 miles through Greenhow as road covered in icey snow, Greenhow must be the coldest place in the world outside the Arctic circle.

V.tired now - legs and back painfull. Looking forward to a gentle couple of pints this evening to dull the pain.

I think there was some talk of doing the Solstice ride on penny-farthings (or did I dream that?).

Here are the photos of the guy I saw a couple of years ago cycling up the Col de la Madeleine on one. Chapeau!

Lakeland Loop profile. Sorry about the kilometres, I was looking at the heights in metres and forgot to switch back, then couldn’t be bothered to redo it all…

Pick up times

5.53am - Me depart
5.55am - Cacophony
5.58am - Roentgen
6.01am - Gizzajob & Harry Quinn

Front wheels out please.

I will put a track pump in, so no need to take one each.

Is this leaving time okay? Or do you want to go earlier or later?

Due to very busy schedule in the El Cid household I will be bringing a Lithuanian girl along , so she can shave my legs whilst I drive. Hope nobody minds.

According to the website “In 2007 times ranged from 3 hours 54 minutes to 6 hours 45 minutes, so start accordingly.”
I reckon I can easily break that record - the slowest, of course!
