Hi guys, I’ve been advised that if I were to get a new chain, I should get new sprockets front and rear, as the chain will wear quickly on older sprockets?

Is this true and what should I do if not?

The chain has been well maintained, cleaned and lubed regularly.

It depends how worn your existing chain is. The sprockets and chainrings wear to match the chain. If the chain has been left too long and become worn/stretched then the sprockets will be too worn to work with the new chain causing the chain to jump under load. If this happens, they will require replacing too.

I would try the chain first, and only change the sprockets or chain ring if it jumps on them too.

Good luck
