<PRESS RELEASE - JD CYCLES.CO.UK RACING TEAM - STARTS>
A source at the Yorkshire Post was heard to say: “Yes, Ben’s joined JD’s lot, they’re not bothered he’s a bit average on the road; he’s ace on a mountain bike, even did a 24hour race for us and was the star of the show.”
When asked about the 1 hour lap when everyone else had been averaging 35-40 minutes, our source said, “Yeah, but it peed it down, the poor lad did really well; everyone else was really struggling but he came through for us, held it together he did, and we won our category.”
What, Pro/Elite?
“No, Vets, but even still, when it wasn’t raining and muddy, it was scorching hot, or dark - when it was night.”
Oh, Vets? How old is he?
“We were vets ‘cos of the average age of the team - we had an old git in the team but Stuart did really well. And Bruce too - he’s really great and fast.”
Good, so where does that leave Aire Valley, I thought they had their eyes on him for 2007?
“Yeah, well, the lads there have been great, they’re all fantastic and have really brought him on (except that Justin - he’s all mouth and no trousers). But I think it was his performance in the infamous ‘Bacup run’ early in the year that swung it.”
You were there?
“No, but I heard he quickly moved through the bunch on all the climbs. Dropping like flies they were.”
Mmm, through the bunch backwards I think you’ll find - blew up and straight to the back.
“No, strong as an Ox I’d heard. Anyway, that was road riding: it doesn’t count.”
Yeah, whatever.
“Anyway, he had a night out with the lads then on to pastures new, I’m sure he’ll get plenty of flak, but we’re looking forward and we’ve got a great contract lined up - no frills, provide your own transport, pay for your own team kit and bring your own sarnies, I think he’ll be right suited with it.”
I agree, sounds like a good deal for both there, you should get a fair return on you investment.
“Yes we do too.”
Thanks.
“No problem.”
