Adjutable seatpost

We are a team of students at Loughborough University studying Sports Technology currently designing an adjustable seat post that suits the needs of both downhill and cross country mountain biking. The seat will be designed so that it is out of the way during descents but can be raised easily (within 5 seconds) for climbing purposes.

Please take 2 mins of your time to go and fill this out as it will help us a lot and maybe in the longer run you as riders

Which is the best biking place?

Well, that is a hard question but to find T-shirts or hoodies that are dedicated to mountain biking sites that is harder.
I found these unusual garments at:

http://www.slickactivewear.co.uk/shop/index.php?cPath=10&osCsid=d0575de566c0e1a2826af57d5c015ea6

Good stuff I think. Hope you find it interesting too.

Hey, I’m looking to get a new bike (my old one is dead ) in the sales probably and at the moment I’m thinking either the Cannondale F6 disc or the Mongoose Tyax Super, so I was wondering whether anyone could give me any advice on choosing between them? Any help would be great :D

Tyax Super: http://www.mongoose.com/mtn/ProductDetails.html?id=2625&enc=mtn|

Cannondale F6: http://gb.cannondale.com/bikes/08/ce/model-8FS6.html

Make road riding easier on my Mountain Bike? Tyre Pressures?

I’ve recently decided to start cycling the 17-mile round trip to work and back. Finding it OK, probably not pushing myself too hard, but then I don’t want to give myself a heart-attack or anything! I’m not at a particularly great fitness level atm!

I’m riding a Specialized ‘Hard-Rock’ Mountain bike though, not a road bike, is there anything I can do to make road-riding easier?

Am I wasting a lot of energy using off-road tyres? Would I really notice the difference if I changed tyres?

Without going to the expense of changing tyres, what else can I do? What tyre pressures should I use for the road, would adjusting the shocks help?

Cheers

Best DH Rig for £1,000

Hey guys,

New to the forum and I must say, it looks awesome!

Anyway, I’m looking to get a full-sus DH bike for about £1,000. I was originally looking at the 2007 Kona Stinky, But I’ve heard that the forks aren’t that great and that the frame has a tendency to snap…

I then settled on the Marin Quake 7.1 2007 has it has better specs for the price. However, I’m not sure how much longer shops will continue to stock it due to newer models coming out… I can’t actually buy it right now as I don’t have the money saved up yet. So… Bummer, eh.

So, any ideas?
Thanks!

Hi all,
Ok i have built a bike with the help of a friend but have now been bitten by the bug and want to upgrade but dont know really where to start. for the last few months ive been doing about 15 miles a week, mainly on road but off-road cross country when i get to tracks. now i usually have my baby girl on here rear seat but do go with friends alone. here is the spec of my current ride.
carerra kracken se frame
shimano hyperdrive crank
shimano acera x front der
shimano deore rear mech
richie bar
fsa headset
shimano cassette
rst t8 launch forks
shimano all in one brakes and shifters
shimano front disc and cal
cant remeber rear make but it is rubbing badly.
question is where do i start and what to get?? do i get a frame and buy stuff seperately gradually while i still ride mine or do i buy stuff and keep swapping bits from my current ride?? do i need light weight stuff ie carbon fibre?? i have no idea what stuff to get as there is so so much and makes?? I know this is a lot to ask but if anyone can help me it would be great. i def want to self build but need some guidance on gear and the way to build. budget wise, im a good saver and can wait for good stuff but not paying 1000’s for each item
Thanks in advance for any help, Tony
